Pifworld offers a diversity of projects in several themes and target groups all over the world. On Pifworld you can find the following themes: Wildlife, Arts and Culture, Emergency, Education, Entrepreneurship, HIV/AIDS, Media, Human Rights, Nature, Health, Sports and Water. The following target groups may benefit from your donation: Woman, Children, Youth, Elderly, Disabled, Refugees, Gay & Lesbian, Entrepreneurs and Animals. Projects also vary in size and duration. Anything is possible. For an overview of all our projects just click here.
In principle, only foundations organised under Dutch law with a bank account in the Netherlands can place a project on Pifworld. However, application forms completed by foreign entities may also be taken into account. You can place a project on Pifworld by completing the Application form.
A project can only be placed after PIF (Play it Forward B.V.) has positively evaluated the application form of the partner organisation. The most important criteria is the manner/the extent in which the project may contribute to a positive change for man, animal, or planet. Other important criteria are financials, project budget, project plan and sustainability of the project. Whether or not to donate is completely up to the user of the website. Although PIF takes great care selecting partner organisations and their projects, it does not take responsibility for the quality of the projects or their execution. All users in Pifworld need to carry out their own due diligence based on all information provided.
In principle, the fundraising period is maximised to six months. This ensures that Pifworld remains a dynamic environment and that projects can be realised within a reasonable timeframe. Within this six months' period the project budget has to be reached. If this is not the case (and the fundraising period is not extended by PIF), the donation will be returned to the Wallet of the Players in order to enable them to re-use the money to support other project(s). Users who did not register prior to making the donation will not receive such payment. Their donations, however, will be allocated by PIF Foundation to another project on Pifworld.
Pifworld provides the partner organisation with an easy possibility of additional funding for which it does not have to pay a service fee and - contrary to similar initiatives - the partner organisation receives 100% of the donations. Through Pifworld the partner organisation can create a worldwide support base, reach an audience it never thought it could reach and mobilise people in a fun way for their cause.
No, you can also play it forward by mobilising others. You can let others know you found a cool project on Pifworld and ask their support. Just hit the "Tell a friend" button to inform your friends by e-mail or use the "Share" option to share your favourite project on your social networks like Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. As a Player you can invite your friends, family and colleagues to join Pifworld. Just click on the "My Profile" button and open your "Friends" page. Here you can send your friends an invitation. You can even invite all your friends at once, for example from LinkedIn, Facebook or Hotmail.
A partner organisation has signed a sponsor agreement with PIF (Play it Forward B.V.) in which it has agreed to update the users of the Website on the progress of the project. After reaching the project budget, the donations are paid to the partner organisation in tranches. If the partner organisation does not meet its obligations to show the progress of the project, PIF may remove the project from the Website. The remainder of the donations will then be allocated by PIF Foundation to another project on Pifworld.
After a project has reached its budget, it is no longer possible to donate to this project.
When a project doesn't reach its project budget in time (within the maximum funding period of six months), the donation will be returned to the Wallet of the Players in order to enable them to re-use this money to support other project(s). Users who did not register prior to making the donation will not receive such payment. Their donations however, will be allocated by PIF Foundation to another project on Pifworld.
The partner organisation can apply by completing our online application form. If assessed positively, the project is applicable for placement.
Once the project budget has been reached, the project will be carried out by the organisation or its partner. They will keep you updated on Pifworld through videos, photos and personal blogs from all around the world. If you are a Player, you will automatically get these updates in your Pifworld-inbox. Now you can actually see the progress of the project(s) you donated to. Stay connected like never before!

You can invite Players who already are a member of Pifworld or you can invite external contacts to become your friend on Pifworld. Just go to your Profile and open your "Friends" page. Here you can invite other Players by searching for them and clicking the "Befriend" button. Inviting friends outside Pifworld is also easy: you can do this manually (one-by-one) or by importing your contacts from social networks like Facebook, MySpace or web-based e-mail, such as Hotmail, Yahoo and Gmail. That way you can invite (groups of) your friends all at once.
Go to your Profile and open your "Projects" page to get an overview of all the projects you donated to.
Go to our Home page and open the "Projects" page. Here you will find a list of all our projects. You can select the projects by theme, name, target and fundraising status. You can also spin and zoom the globe to find projects that interest you.
Once you find a project you like, just press the green button "Donate". A pop-up will open where you can indicate the amount of money you want to donate. You can also leave a comment why you feel this project deserves your support. You do not have to be a member on Pifworld to donate (however, then you will miss out on all the good things like updates). As a member you can not only pay by bank transfer but you can also pay from your Wallet.
The easiest and most favourable way of donating is from your Wallet. Before you can pay from your Wallet you have to upload money to your Wallet. By doing so you save on transaction costs as you only pay transactions costs once (when uploading the money to your Wallet) but can donate to different projects any time you like. Uploading money (in units of 5 euros) is easy: go to your Profile and open your "Wallet" page. Here you can choose the amount of money you want to upload to your Wallet.
No, you do not have to pay a service fee. Your donation goes to the PIF Foundation, which pays out 100% of the donations to the partner organisation which implements the project(s).
Included are the payment processing costs with regard to the services carried out by RBS WorldPay Global Payment Services, the commission fees charged by the financial institutions (like credit card acquirers and banks) and a mark-up for contingency.
Electronic financial transactions bear the risk of so-called charge back (users disputing a payment or the amount of payment). When donations are charged back by users, the payment service provider among other things charges PIF Foundation for the related costs. Therefore, a provision is made by PIF Foundation to anticipate these risks.
You can donate per unit of 5 euros, thus 5 euros is the minimum.
You can donate any amount you like. However if your donation is above € 2,000 you can only pay in separate transactions. For security reasons, our payment service provider only supports payments up to € 2,000.
Yes, it is possible to hide the amount of your donations from others. To change your donate settings go to your Profile and open your "Details" page. Just scroll down to switch on the option "Donations not visible". However, please note that if you support an Ambassador, your name and the amount of your donation will be visible to him or her.
There is an overview of all your transactions in your Profile. Open your "Wallet" page and scroll down to see your donation history. You also have an overview of the projects you donated to on the "Project" page of your Profile.
Please check our Privacy Statement to learn more about the data collected about you, with whom it is shared, and for what purposes. PIF (Play It Forward B.V.) does not provide your email address or other personally identifiable information to other users or to third parties without your permission. To contact you, Players can only use the communication mechanisms provided by Pifworld.
If you have donated without becoming a member on Pifworld, others can see your name, city and country of residence. Others can also see which project you have donated to and the amount of such donation. If you have left a comment with your donation, this will also be visible to others.
If you are a Player, other users can see your name, city, country of residence and your Profile. If you have provided extra information on your Profile, this will also be visible. Please note that your Profile may be indexed in search engines. Furthermore, other users can see a list of your Friends, the projects you donated to and the (accumulated) amount of your donations. Should you wish that the amount of your donations remain hidden from others you can indicate this in your Profile (see also question 11).
This depends on your jurisdiction. Ask your local tax-advisor for more information.
PIF Foundation is a so-called ANBI, which may have some tax advantages for (Dutch) donors.
Go to your Profile and open the "Details" page. Scroll down to turn on the "Delete my account" option. If you delete your account, your Profile will be removed as well as the messages you sent to other Players.
Yes, you can. If the Gift recipient is not a member of Pifworld, go to your Profile and open the "Friends" page. Use the "Invite your Friends" block to send a Gift to the friend(s) of your choice. If the Gift recipient is a member of Pifworld, just find him or her and click the "Send Gift" button on that person's passport.
Yes, you have to collect your Gift within 60 days. You have to be a member to be able to collect your gift. If you do not collect your Gift within sixty days, the Gift will be returned to the Wallet of the sender.

If you love playing it forward, you can become an Ambassador and link your personal profile to your favourite project. As an Ambassador you take the lead in creating a better world. By writing blogs, placing photos and videos on the "Blog" page of your Profile you can mobilise others to support you. You can share your personal fundraising actions, like running a marathon, throwing a party or organising an auction. Fundraising has never been so easy!
Once you have registered as a Player you can easily become an Ambassador by clicking the "Become Ambassador" button on the page of the project you wish to support.
On your Profile, people can see that you support a special project, they can view your motivation and read your blogs. The friends and family that support you are listed on your Friends page. In your personal passport, people can see how successful you are in fundraising as the total amount you raised is shown.
You can only be an Ambassador for one project at a time. However, by clicking the "Become Ambassador" button, you can add other projects you wish to fundraise for in the future. These projects will be listed on the "Project" page of your profile. Here you can rank your fundraising projects. The project on top is your active project. If you want to switch and fundraise for another project, just place your favourite project on top by using the arrows.
Go to your Profile, open the "Project" page and type a message to invite your friends to support your project. You can send the invitation one-by-one or you can even invite all your friends at once, for example from LinkedIn, Facebook or Hotmail.
Go to your Profile and open your "Blog" page. Here you can inform your friends on your fundraising adventures. Your Supporting Friends will automatically receive a notification in their Pifworld-inbox that you placed a new blog.
Go to your Profile and open your "Blog" page . Just click on the button "New" and change the "Type" option to "Video".
No, on Pifworld you can only fundraise for one project at a time. However, you can change the project you are fundraising for at any moment (see also question 4).

The Play it Forward Organisation (PIF) is the creator of Pifworld. The organisation maintains Pifworld and makes sure you can find projects you want to play forward.
The Play it Forward Organisation was established in 2007. Harmen van Doorn, a former investment banker, came up with the Play it Forward idea and gathered key professional and creative people around him. Together they created Pifworld to make a positive change worldwide.
All activities are carried out by Play it Forward B.V. (PIF BV). Play it Forward B.V. is funded by private investors who want to enable people worldwide to make a positive change. However, all donations are paid directly to the PIF Foundation. The PIF Foundation pays these funds directly to the organisations that carry out the projects. The PIF foundation has been set up in order to safeguard all received donations and earmark these for the projects. Thus, there is, in principle, no bankruptcy risk for the PIF Foundation. All donations paid are secured. Strict independence guidelines between PIF BV and PIF Foundation are in place.
As explained in question 11, the PIF Foundation collects and distributes the donations. PIF BV maintains the platform and carries out all operational activities. PIF B.V. derives its income from the interest received on donations, advertisement and (company) sponsoring in order to carry out these activities.
Harmen van Doorn is the statutory director of PIF BV.
Members of the PIF Foundation Board are Jeroen Soeteman and Roeland Vermolen.
Members of the Advisory Board of PIF Foundation are Philip Rogaar, Jaap Kalff and Mark Lely.
