Description

Children's charity organization fighting for the children's rights all over the world. Every child has talents and dreams. KidsRights believes that all children should be able to realise the enormous potential they have within them. That is why KidsRights stands up for vulnerable children everywhere, offering them direct support tailored to their needs and focusing attention on their position and their rights. KidsRights helps by financing existing, well-run local projects that focus on five basic requirements of care: health care, nutrition, education, shelter and attention. Often, some relatively simple assistance is all that children need to make tremendous progress, providing them with the opportunity to build toward a better future. KidsRights offers a platform to children who, without help, often find it difficult to make the world sit up and listen. As Nobel Peace Prize winner Desmond Tutu has said: “KidsRights seeks to give a voice to the voiceless”.

Main activities

KidsRights takes a stand for children's basic rights. And in particular for vulnerable children in the world, children exploited as slaves or prostitutes, children with aids, and orphans who are deprived of even the most basic care. Through local project partners, we help vulnerable children by financing local, smaller, yet scalable projects, giving them direct and personal support. We choose these projects based on their capability to provide all-round and 'made to measure' care. This all-round care includes the following: Health Care, Nutrition, Shelter, Education and Attention. KidsRights chooses to support the local project partners for several years, so the all-round care for children is guaranteed, even in the years to come. Besides the aid projects, KidsRights supports projects through the International Children’s Peace Prize. The International Children’s Peace Prize is accompanied by an award of 100,000 Euro to be invested in projects closely connected to the winner’s area of devotion. The project contributes to the mission of the winner and has a positive impact on his or her environment. www.childrenspeaceprize.org

  • Rescue child slaves

Freeing children out of child labour and reintregrating them into society by offering them a ‘real’ future. India has the largest number of child labour, bonded labour and trafficking. KidsRights' partner BBA receives complaints from parents and gathers information from various sources about such children, rescues them with the help of government authorities, and reunites them with their families. BBA ensures their education and rehabilitation using various state provisions, and through its own rehabilitation-cum- education centres. Since 1980, more than 76,000 child/bonded labourers have been freed from brick kilns, stone quarries, domestic labour, hotels/dhabas, carpet looms, agriculture and allied work etc. BBA makes a major difference in their lives by restoring their childhood, freedom and dignity. BBA also works to prevent child labour, bonded labour and trafficking through preventative measures.
