What is happening?
Problem statement
North-Uganda is slowly recovering from the civil war between the army of president Museveni and the guerilla movement Lord's Resistance Army (LRA), that lasted 20 years. In this period 1,6 million people needed to relocate within the country and ended up in refugee camps.
Goal
The medical post in Gulu, Uganda is part of the SOS Children's Village in Gulu. The medical centre provides care and medicine to the children in the SOS children's village and the broad community, around the village.
Main activities
We ask for a contribution for the medicines and materials needed to keep the medical centre running for a year.
External risks
Uganda and the Gulu region has been politically stable for some years now. The disarming of the LRA is however an ongoing process and Joseph Kony is still at large, However despite this stall in the peace process, Northern Uganda still remained largely safe and many people have returned from the internally displaced people’s camps, to the villages. Generally, the insurgency seems to have practically ended. The recently launched Peace, Recovery and Development plan by the government will not only aim at peace building and rehabilitation, but also increased investment in infrastructure and proposals for industrial initiatives.

About: Home Refit wil maatschappelijk verantwoord ondernemen.
About: Social corporate responsibility requires a different way of thinking and working. AEGON is doing exactly that. Therefor, the AEGON Customer Care Center started an active social responsibility program empowering the employees to do good. Based on individual performances, each CCC-agent can earn charity credits which they can spend his/her favourite project on Pifworld. Do good, feel good!
