Hello all,
Thank you very much for your support to Cycling out of Poverty in Kenya. Due to a delay in fundraising your donations will be used for a bicycle credit project in Homabay. This project is a copy of the Mwea project and will be run by our local partner Victoria Boda Boda Co-op Sacco.
Homa Bay is a bay and town on the south shore of Winam Gulf of Lake Victoria, in western Kenya. There is large informal sector with a variety of jobs. The bicycle on credit will improve the situation of the people working in this informal sector, because of savings of transport costs or generating more income with the use of a bicycle.
A group of beneficiaries already started to save for the bicycle. By the of March the first beneficiaries are ready for a bicycle.

Motivation
The project Cycling out of poverty enables us to buy bicycles on the local market in Kenya and takes care of the selecting and training of the beneficiaries. These are women that can be helped with a bicycle. They get a training and they make a plan on how they will use the bicycle to earn money. The women learn the basics of credits and savings, and gain some basic knowledge on bicycle maintenance.Read more
