Present for Future Students
Recently, the orphans, who are following an education with the financial support from Present for Future, had a meeting in the Rescue Centre. They could share their experiences. They encouraged each other to work hard.
Even though the construction of the Rescue Center is not finished, a part of it is already in use.
We hope to open the Center officially this year, but we need some exra support! Please play it forward.
Say no to FGM
Every year our partner organization is organizing a week against Female Genital Mutilation. Also this year this week was organized, but on a special location, namely in the Rescue Centre. Even though the construction of the Rescue Centre is not ready, a part of it is already in use.
Children and mothers attended the training course, where they were taught what the consequences of circumcision are and what they can do against it. At the end of the training the children received a report, stating that they have succeeded and that they’ll know what to do if circumcision occurs.

How awful when those girl are robbed away their opportunity of decent life. Keep us updated and keep up the good work!
Good news!
All the rooms in the Rescue Centre have doors and all the painting is done! They finished the work on the administration block. And they started the counseling from there. Good news!
So, they're working hard in Kenya to finish the project and you can help us to complete the total project!
A visit to the Rescue Centre
This summer visited Renske and Eline -friends of Present for Future- the Rescue Centre in Kisii. They got a warm welcome. They were impressed by the necessity of the centre. "Not just something that was devised by western people but something that the people in Kisii really need and want", told Renske.

Update
News from our colleagues in Kisii:
" We are trying to settle down at Rescue center,.; Even though the center is not finished yet, we receive atleast not less than 3 clients a week. We serve clients from HIV/AIDS and FGM for couselling, you know FGM is a culture and draining it away to the mind of people needs a lot of time and dedication. But we will continue putting our effort to eliminate FGM.
At the moment we are working on the budget and as soon as you have transferred the next payment, we are able to continue building the center.
We are very much greatful to the Board of Ptesent for Future and all players that help us to play it Forward!"

Rescue Centre: the beginning
The Rescue Centre is almost finished! But the first steps to realize this centre were made a couple of years ago.
The beginning: a visit to the Rescue Center
In July 2007 I got the chance to go for the first time to Kisii. I was very surprised!
The property, that the government had donated to YWCA, is pretty big and the building is already there, at least the outside.
It was very nice to have an idea on what we are working on and being there made me even more dedicated to raise money to build this center.
Now I had seen the projects and also met the people, the first donations were made. We bought all beds that will be manufactured for the Rescue Center and after our visit, the roof was put on!
Besides shopping for beds and mattresses and bargaining on prices, I also had the chance to talk to locals and see their enthusiasm. I am sure that the whole community will take advantage of the counseling and the training that will be given here. The great need for this center is shown by local involvement, even politicians are donating. I am dedicated to help this Center being built!
A second visit to the Rescue Centre in 2008
In 2008 I took the chance to visit Kisii again (at own expenses of course)
Our colleagues from Kisii hadn't been able to send pictures for a while, so I did not know what the status of the building was. And since this year had been terrible for Kenya, due to the post election violence, I did not expect much progress.Even though prices have risen up to 300% sometimes, they were still able to surprise me. The building is totally paint from the outside, I hardly recognized it.
This time we took even more time to talk to the locals. This was pretty shocking at the time. How hard can life be sometimes. But the greatest thing to see was the power in peoples eyes, when they were talking on how they will recover from those circumstances. In our film you can see two women talking about their lives and the role YWCA played to help them to survive. They are sure that once the Rescue Center is ready, they have a place to come together. This will make the counseling and training much more accessible, which will enlarge the numbers of people that can benefit.
Now; in 2009 we are almost there! I ask you all to play it forward, this Center is so much needed!
Building the girl rescue centre
We already started building the centre, as you can see on the pics. When finished, here the girls can be informed about HIV/AIDS and issues of domestic violence, female genital mutilation can be discussed. With the target raised on Pifworld be can finish the centre and also provide shelter for these girls!

Description
The project is the construction of a Rescue Centre. The centre will be a place to give counseling and education about HIV/Aids, domestic violence and female genital mutilation. The project is part of a bigger plan, when the entire Rescue Centre is built, also shelter for girls in need as well as education and training to larger groups can be given. The centre will then also be self-supporting by the income generating activities, like renting the rooms.Read more
