Getting Started in Kampala
As I wrote before, we found a nice building in Kampala to start the Talent Factory. In august these classes are starting:
Visual arts:
- jewelry making
- drawing
- animation

Instruments;
- drum
- traditional music
- piano

Dance
- Contemporary & traditional

We are very glad and proud we are really getting started with some classes. Of course if we can raise more money we can educate more talents, finish the building and give more classes. That will happen in the future, I believe in

Thank you all for your support and interest in our project

Kind Regards

Akatia

Young DJ and producer to South Africa for music project

The 21-year-old Vincent Paolo Corputty from Hoofddorp departed on April 22 for two weeks in South Africa. Together with young, local rappers he will make music and DJ at various celebrations and festivals in and around Johannesburg. The 17-year-old Wouter Koomen from Hoofddorp is traveling with him for a documentary about the project.

In the autumn of 2008, Music Mayday organized an exchange program with Artquake to South Africa. Five young people from Haarlemmermeer traveled with Artquake into Soweto, the township of Johannesburg, with five local youth. One of the participating young people from Hoofddorp, the 21-year-old Vincent Paolo Corputty got so inspired by this project on his own initiative and with financial resources to return to South Africa.

During the exchange Vincent Paolo noted that there many rappers in Soweto, but that they lack the resources and knowledge to develop good beats to their raps. "I've really seen how hip-hop music is alive, and if you do not have much, music really is a way you can express yourself." Prior to his departure he kindlyasked Dutch musicians to develop beats to make it aggregated it to a mixtape. With the beats of the young Dutch musicians and the texts of South African rappers Vincent wants to make a finished product so that he can prove that any starting artist may well be. "As long as you just believe yourself and your music.

Music Mayday wants to help the youngsters in Uganda just like we are doing already in South Africa

Finding a new location
First of all, let me introduce myself, my name is Akatia Dramadri. I'm Executive director for Music Mayday Uganda. I just found a location for a talent factory and were rebuilding it now. This location is an ideal place for educating creative talent in Uganda. We still need 20.000 euro to finish building the talent factory. Hopefully with your help we can make this project happen and give youngsters the opportunity to develop themselves.
