Documentary Capture shows photography project
Dear Players!

It has been a while since we last informed you on the progress of the photography project in Lobitos Peru.

However, we have great news! Filmmakers from New York City volunteered the past month to make a documentary on the experience of an international volunteer at the project in Lobitos. This volunteer happens to be a professional extreme sports photographer. His name is Jeremy Koons.

With a film crew he travelled to Lobitos to portrait the photography project and his experiences as a volunteer. At the moment the crew is busy editing in the USA.

Picture A Wave Of Change behind the scenes!
Soul Surfers Foundation is very pleased to inform you that whilst the money is underway to Peru, youth in Lobitos have started practicing photography.

Jesus, only 12 years old, likes taking pictures so much he will probably be the first to pick up the ‘professional’ camera once it arrives in Lobitos.

As far as organisation WAVES for Development is concerned, surf photography is an excellent way to make a living on the beach in northern Peru. With more and more tourists visiting the beaches around which provide world class waves, it makes an ideal way to generate income for the underprivilged children and their families.

WAVES for Development has been in contact with Fairmail : a postcard company which hire underprivileged teenagers to shoot the images., they then receive 50% of the profit for education and housing.
One of the teenagers, Juan Carlos will be asked to give two workshops to the Lobitos youth during their winterholiday (in July). But before that, youth get to practice their skills with the numerous voluntourists who will be visiting Lobitos in the near future.
