What is happening?
Thank you for supporting WorldCoaches
The WorldCoaches program results from a special partnership between SOS Children's Villages and Dutch soccer association KNVB. Together, we are training football coaches who will reach out to vulnerable children in the townships of South Africa. The coach is a role model for the children. Teaching them with soccer skills, but also life skills. The coach encourages them to do their best on the field but also outside. The children can contact him with personal questions and problems. Their coach is their confidant with whom they can also discuss difficult issues such as domestic violence, AIDS, unemployment, discrimination and insecurity.
In 2010, the program WorldCoaches started. Currently, there are 50 active WorldCoaches active in the family strengthening programs of SOS Children’s Villages in South Africa. That number will be doubled within the coming year. Via WorldCoaches we hope to reach over 5,000 children. The contribution of Vodafone helps us to realize this ambition!

Motivation
WorldCoaches South Africa. Training for life. Support one WorldCoach for four years.
Playing football is a very effective way to reach young people and unite them. For the football World Cup 2010, KNVB and SOS Children’s Villages bundled their strengths in the WorldCoaches, in order to stimulate youth in their talents and passion and enable them to develop themselves. Beside being an expert football coach, a WorldCoach is a social coach as well, teaching the children life skills. The WorldCoach is a motivator, educator, organizer and role model for children and youth in the community.
By supporting this project, you enable 1 of 110 WorldCoaches to train young people for 4 years, so that a new generation will be trained in football and other life skills.Read more
